The state of being needed is desired yet repulsed. Raised for emotional support, this piece explores the experience of generational trauma. The scars gathered through the years are evidence of the struggle. Sitting a bathtub, a piece of plastic printed with the word “NEEDED.” floated onto a hand. A moment of serendipity covered in the remembrance of duty to others. The roles assigned to compensate for the pain of those before me who did not heal. How many baths till the water heals the scars and breaks the cycles?
