Narcissus exhibits vanity, feeling so involved in appearance. There is subtle surrealism with the subject coming in and out of the mirror. The expression on the subject mimics both dissociation and contemplation. The coloring is ethereal and fantastical. The delicate position of the hand is a longing for the truth in the blend of fantasy and reality.
